Yahweh Tsebaoth
"This man went up from his city yearly to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of Hosts [Yahweh Tsebaoth] in Shiloh." 1 Samuel 1:3
Yahweh Tsebaoth - the "Lord of Hosts" or the "Lord of Armies." Yahweh Tsebaoth represents God's supreme authority and His command over all creation, including the heavenly bodies, the entire angelic host, mankind, and all the forces of the earth. The first time Father God revealed Himself as Yahweh Tsebaoth was in 1 Samuel 1:3, through the story of Hannah as she cried out to God for a child. Please read 1 Samuel 2:1-10 where we find Hannah rejoicing in the soverienty and holiness of God.
Yahweh Tsebaoth demonstrates God as the divine warrior, our Commander-in-Chief who goes to battle before us. He was Yahweh Tsebaoth to David when he defeated Goliath. “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” 1 Samuel 17:45, NIV.
We are reminded by the prophets—Isaiah, Jeremiah, Haggai, and Malachi—of Father God's divine power and sovereignty over both earthly and universal forces during times of crisis. Yahweh Tsebaoth (Lord of Hosts) appears over 250 times in the scriptures, indicating how much Father God wants to demonstrate His power, protection, and holiness to His children.
Let us pray:
Father God, we thank You that even when the nations are in turmoil and everything is shaking around us, You are with us and You will prevail. You are our stronghold. The earth melts at the sound of Your voice. Father, You have purposed and it shall come to pass. Father, You will break the yoke and the burdens off our children and off our city, causing them to depart from among us. We will tread the enemy under our feet. Father, You have stretched out Your hand and no one can turn it back. Father, we decree: Psalm 46:11, "The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge." In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, we pray. Amen! Hallelujah! Glory to the Father!
